It was noted that the bid asked for 61,000 gallons to cover approximately 12 miles of road.  This times the low bid of $1.88 per gallon totals $114,680 and already has us $ 18,680 over our budget.  First Selectman Eldredge asked Lynn Nicholls is there was any way she could reduce the number of miles of the chip seal route.   He also asked if the board felt we should wait to see about the state bids.   Selectman Patton asked Lynn Nicholls about the state bidding.  He feels we should wait and week or so and see what the state is bidding before making any decision.  Lynn will make some calls.  The board agreed to wait for the state bid.  Selectman Patton said the prices should hold for the entire fiscal year however, he doesn’t want to wait too long as we have to get the company to schedule.

PUBLIC WORKS

Bills and vacation slips were signed.  Topics discussed included cutting down the route for chip-sealing, complaints regarding the Depot Rd. project (Lynn suggested getting Birmingham to complete the project; Mike will call them) amounts charged for tires at the Transfer Station (it was decided that the fee schedule should be posted there so the correct amounts are collected, $7, $3, $1.

First Selectman Eldredge moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:21 p.m.  Selectman Patton seconded.
VOTE: ALL YES  (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS).

Respectfully submitted,
